Pulp Fiction, UK Quad, 1994 (SOLD)

Though not his first film, this is the movie that put his name on the map, securing a number of Oscar nominations. Not a day goes by where a quote isn’t overheard in the office originating from this movie… “Zed’s dead, baby”… 

The classic Mia Wallace (Uma Thurman) lays, being unwittingly seductive, smoking and reading. But just in case you thought she was just an innocent bibliophile trying to seduce you, a gun brings you back down to Earth. This is no ordinary woman. She is dangerous. 

There is more to this poster than just its style. The photographer, acclaimed American Firooz Zahedi, took Miramax (and Disney, Miramax’s parent company) as well as Tarantino to court over it, after alleging that he was underpaid and did not expressly give permission to the production team to use the image in such a wide fashion. Miramax refuted the claim, saying that it was their own team that undertook the design in the first place and that Zahedi was only hired to photograph the design that was put in front of him. Unfortunately for Miramax and Tarantino’s team, however, no one could find any paperwork to prove or disprove anything. But luckily for them, the judge ruled in their favour over the fact that Zahedi took too long to claim… And it seems we will never know the truth.
